Aim

The aim of this training event is to familiarise participants on the essential steps that are needed in order to develop successful proposals under the  upcoming calls in Horizon 2020 INNOSUP -01 call topic. Participants are key actors that are heavily involved with research and innovation activities. Therefore, three are the main objectives of the training event, i.e.  to familiarise the trainees a) on how to develop mature grant applications under INNOSUP calls, b) how to identify and get involved with promising partners that plan to submit an grant application under INNOSUP call 01 and c) how to think like evaluators.

Session 1: Understanding the basics behind H2020 INNOSUP-01 call

• Introduction to the training and to the H2020 INNOSUP-01 call
• Welcome Message
• Route de Table – Short introduction by each participant
• Participants’ expectations
• Introduction to the H2020 INNOSUP-01 call and background policy documents
• Presentation of successful INNOSUP-01 projectsRoadmap for a 2-step Innovation Action proposal
• Key documents and procedures for submitting a H2020 INNOSUP-01 proposal
• Core conceptual elements of an INNOSUP-01 proposal (Open Calls, Supporting Services, Large Scale Demonstrations)

Session 2: Mapping the landscape in H2020 INNOSUP-01 Call

• Detailed presentation of Block.IS (Successful INNOSUP 01 project)
• Strategies for approaching consortia and participating in INNOSUP-01 proposals
  (20 mins presentation + 40 minutes practical exercise)
• Practical exercise: Develop/Finalise a pitching email for promoting skills and expertise to key actors in H2020 INNOSUP-01 calls

Session 3: Demystifying the evaluation process

• Brief presentation of participants’ work and discussion
• Familiarisation with Evaluation Process and what makes a winning proposal based on examples from INNOSUP 01 ESRs (tips and tricks based on evaluators comments, common mistakes)

Session 4: Writing Successful Proposals in H2020 INNOSUP-01 calls

• How to write part per part the EXCELLENCE section in an H2020 INNOSUP-01 grant application with emphasis on examples from INNOSUP 01 winning projects
• Emphasis on Supporting SMEs through: Funding, Services, Large Scale Demonstrators
• How to write part per part the IMPACT section in an H2020 INNOSUP-01 grant application with emphasis on examples from INNOSUP 01 winning projects
• Emphasis on DEC for attracting SMEs in Open Calls

PART A

• How to write part per part the IMPACT section in an H2020 INNOSUP-01 grant application with emphasis on examples from INNOSUP 01 winning projects
• Emphasis on DEC for attracting SMEs in Open Calls

PART B

• How to write part per part the IMPLEMENTATION section in an H2020 INNOSUP-01 grant application with emphasis on examples from INNOSUP 01 winning projects
• Emphasis on financial aspects of designing of an FSTP scheme
• Participants will form groups or work individual and select one of the following to work with, depending on their previous familiarization with H2020 proposal development and interests: Topic: Develop an idea aligned with an INNOSUP-01 call topic:
  • Develop a proposal concept (summary), including Work Plan
  • Design a Cascade Funding (FSTP) Scheme
  • Design a supporting services scheme for SMEs in your sector
  • Design Large Scale Demonstrators
  • Open: Any other topic they may wish to work with. Please consult with trainer.Brief presentation of participants’ work and discussion
